Our mission was to create a digital activation for Nestlé Lion Chocolate in Europe by exploring the brand attributes of power & strength.
WHAT BEAST ARE YOU?
A Facebook "WHAT BEAST ARE YOU?" was created and an audio app to challenge fans to record their loudness roars. Their sound waves were classified based in 2 parameters – Decibel (volume) and Length (time). By measuring those parameters we could reveal what kind of beast a fan is.
1. Develop or find out a ready made app able to measure those 2 parameters and create results in real time.
2. Create a filter to avoid fans recording any words. One good thing that we figured out was that when you roar you create a continuos wave and when you using words you create a wave with up and downs format.
ROAR APP SOLUTION
1 Develop a script to keep us logged in Soundcloud with the project's account, so users don't need an SC account.
2 User makes a recording with our flash widget (not SC) and the recording is uploaded to a server.
3 A script on the server converts the recording to FLAC (required by google speech).
4 Recording is fed into google speech to determine if it is speech or not. If it is speech user gets a warning "Animals cannot talk". If it is NOT speech, our flash widget receives a notification to proceed.
5 An action-script in the flash widget uses the microphone level to calculate relative decibels.
6 Recording is assigned a beast type and shown to the user.
7 Recording is uploaded to our Soundcloud.
8 All recordings from our Soundcloud are shared on a tab in the Facebook app.
USING AI
We had all the process automatically controlled with real time results. We could collected fans roars, analysed the recordings, associated them with a feline animal, created avatars for fans profile pictures. All those data had feed a national leaderboard (top10) plus the approved "roars" were share trough Facebook.
